3. INITIATIVES DEVELOPED AT COP20

A. THE LIMA CLIMATE ACTION DAY

For the first time, a high level segment that generates dialogue between governmental and non-governmental actors was launched. The so called “Lima Climate Action Day” was developed to increase the ambition of all actors to fight climate change. Besides, the NAZCA (Non State Actor Zone for Climate Action www.climateaction.unfccc.int ) platform was born, a climate action portal to capture and catalyze action towards supporting the 2015 agreement, which also helps to show individual and corporate initiatives all over the world.
As a result the “Lima-Paris Action Agenda” was prepared. It aims at catalyzing climate action by governmental and non-governmental actors, contributing to the Convention’s objective, increasing climate ambition before 2020 and supporting the achievement of an agreement in 2015.

B. REDD+

As concerns Reduction of Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation (REDD+), the Lima Information Hub was launched. It is a data repository that collects obtained results, national plans or strategies, summaries on safeguard information systems and reference levels. This will allow for more transparency in the process of payment by results.

C. MULTILATERAL ASSESSMENTS

A Multilateral Evaluation of 17 developed countries -including European Union countries and United States- was performed. It enquires on progress made in reducing emissions, GHG emission trend from 1990 to 2012, forecasting, and GHG targets at all economic levels.
